Who we are

OptiCheck Vehicle is operated by OptiFleet Limited, a UK company registered in Scotland (Company No. SC883979, ICO Registration ZC113944). We are the data controller for any personal data you provide.

What we collect

To use OptiCheck Vehicle you sign in with an email address. That email is used to:

• Send you secure sign-in links (magic links)
• Track your token balance and purchase history
• Send transactional emails (purchase receipts, security notifications)

We also store, against your account:

• The vehicle registrations you have looked up and the date
• Your token balance and bundle purchase records

We do not collect names, phone numbers, addresses or any other personal data unless you contact us directly. We do not use any third-party advertising, analytics or tracking cookies.

Cookies & local storage

We use essential browser storage only — your sign-in session, your consent preference, and a local cache of your most recent vehicle checks (so you can re-view results without paying again). No tracking cookies, no advertising IDs, no third-party scripts.

How we use DVLA & DVSA data

When you check a vehicle, we query the official DVLA Vehicle Enquiry Service and DVSA MOT History API in real time. The data displayed comes directly from those public services. We cache the result for a short period to avoid duplicate API calls and reduce cost. Vehicle data is not personally identifiable to you and is not linked to any individual.

Who we share data with

We share data only with the processors required to run the service:

• Cloudflare — hosting and edge storage (UK and EU)
• Stripe — payment processing for card purchases
• Resend — transactional email delivery
• DVLA & DVSA — official UK government data sources

We do not sell, rent or share your data with advertisers, marketers or any third party for marketing purposes.

How long we keep your data

Your account and check history are retained while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from the account drawer or by emailing us — when you do, your data is permanently erased within 30 days. Anonymised vehicle lookup caches may be retained for up to 90 days.

Your rights under GDPR

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction or deletion of your data
• Object to or restrict processing
• Receive a portable copy of your data
• Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO)

1. The service

OptiCheck Vehicle is a pay-as-you-go vehicle data lookup service. It provides information sourced live from the DVLA Vehicle Enquiry Service and the DVSA MOT History API. The data is provided by UK government agencies — we present it without modification.

2. Tokens

To run a check you need tokens. Tokens are purchased in bundles. Each successful check consumes one token. Tokens do not expire by time — they are consumed only when used. If a check fails because the vehicle is not found, no token is consumed.

3. Refunds

Unused tokens are non-refundable except where required by law. If a check returns incorrect data due to a fault on our side (not the DVLA or DVSA), we will refund the token. Contact us within 14 days.

4. Acceptable use

You may use the service for any lawful purpose. You may not scrape the service, resell the data, or use it for harassment, stalking, or any unlawful activity. We may suspend accounts that breach these terms.

5. Accuracy

The data shown is provided by the DVLA and DVSA and is generally accurate. However, we cannot guarantee it is free of errors. Always verify critical decisions (e.g. before buying a vehicle) against the official sources directly.

6. Limitation of liability

We are not liable for any indirect, consequential or special losses arising from your use of the service. Our total liability is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

7. Changes

We may update these terms with reasonable notice. Material changes will be emailed to active users.
